Creative models from Janyaa students

We wanted to update you on an event we conducted on Feb 28th in partnership with United Way Hyderabad, Qualcomm and Aqriti.  JSIC (Janyaa Social Innovation Challenge) is Janyaa’s initiative where we provide a platform for students to come up with solution models for problems in their communities. The concepts they have learnt from our JLIB (Janyaa Lab In a Box) program help children prepare for this next step. This time around the themes were Waste Management & Alternative energy.

What an amazing event that was with creative juices flowing all over. Children have come up with very innovative models. We just tried to pick the best out of the entries. It wasn’t an easy task for sure.

The final round of exhibits was shortlisted by District Education Officer, Ms. Venkata Narasamma. Judges visited each exhibit to understand the working models on – Waste Management and Alternative Energy. The following are the winning entries:

First Prize– Waste Management – GBHS Sultan bazaar

Second Prize– Hydraulic JCB – Alternative Energy – GHS Yousufguda

Third Prize– Working appliances (cooler, vacuum cleaner, two wheeler, ship) with solar energy – GHS Ameerpet No-1

First Runner up– Waste Water Management – GGHS Red cross

Second Runner up– BioFuel from wet waste – Waste Management – GHS Goshamahal (Urdu)

JSIC helps children apply the concepts they have learnt, into solving real life problems. We are happy we are enabling children in becoming creative problem solvers. A big thank you to Ms Rekha Srinivasan & Ms Girija Tulpule from United Way Hyderabad for providing the support and making Janyaa part of this event. And special thanks to DEO Ms Venkata Narasamma for supporting this initiative. We also would like to thank all the partners involved in this event.

Last but not the least, we would like to thank our Janyaa team (Surendra, Satish & Natarajan) who under the leadership of Ms Chitra Jayanty have executed this to success.
